Amy Lathen – Executive Director
Born in Denver in 1967, Amy settled in Colorado Springs with her family in 1984. After graduating from Rampart High School, Amy enrolled in college at UCCS and earned her B.A. in Psychology in 1992. Amy married her husband, Bob, in 1992 and they have three children.
Amy has been politically active in our community since 2000, working on numerous issue and candidate campaigns. She was elected in a vacancy election and two subsequent general elections to serve as El Paso County Commissioner from 2008-2016 and was peer selected to leadership in seven of her eight years on the Board.
Amy has received certification from the National Emergency Management Institute in the Integrated Emergency Management Course: All Hazards-Preparedness and Response. She was elected to seven terms and served 14 consecutive years on the El Paso County Republican Party Executive Committee. She received a gubernatorial, six-year appointment to the 4th Judicial District Nomination Commission, served as President of the Cheyenne Mountain Republican Forum, Vice President of the Leadership Program of the Rockies, Class of 2007, Pikes Peak Firearms Coalition Political Action Committee, Pikes Peak Range Rider Foundation Board, Vice-Chair of the Citizen Outreach Group of El Paso County, Chair and Vice-Chair of the PPRTA, member of El Paso County Board of Health, Vice-Chair of the Regional Tourism Advisory Committee, member of the Finance, Pensions and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee of the National Association of Counties, liaison to Highway Advisory Commission, Pikes Peak Regional Water Authority and much more.
Amy founded the collaborative Barriers to Business group, co-founded the regional citizens stormwater taskforce, the Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex, the El Paso County groundwater quality study group and many others. She was recognized as Republican volunteer of the year, a Making Democracy Work award nominee, Women on the Move nominee and 2011 Woman of Influence by the Colorado Springs Business Journal.
Amy joined Colorado Springs Forward as its new Executive Director in 2016 and looks forward to improving prosperity, community and leadership throughout our region.
